Peaches is a beautiful Palomino Paint Draft cross. She came to us through a good Samaritan who saw her for sale in a horrible and starved condition. She purchased Peaches and contacted us about taking her because of her extreme issues. We are so thankful that she is now with us. Unfortunately, not only was she starved but she has a serious internal leg and knee injury that looks to be quite old. After Vet visits and visits from the Corrective Farrier, the found that the leg was beyond repair but that she wasn't in any pain currently because the injury was healed and so old she had learned to move on it so it didn't cause pain. We have been working with the Vet and Farrier to build her a brace that will help her knee, leg and hoof to be in more of an appropriate angle and to help prevent further damage. Unfortunetly that wasn't the end of it for Peaches. She was recently diagnosed with Cushing's Disease (non contagious, autoimmune disease), which is a dysfunction of the pituitary gland, which in turn casues a slew of other issues. Some of those issues include; not being able to shed out her winter coat properly, change in attitude and lethargy, and can if cause Neurologic deficit/blindness. She has been started on a medication which will help with the Cushing's and its symptoms. Because of her injuries and her Cushing's she will be in long term care. We are asking for sponsors for Peaches for her Feed, Medication and her Leg/Hoof brace and shoes.
